เรื่องย่อ

หลายร้อยปีก่อน มนุษย์เกือบสูญพันธ์เพราะเผ่าพันธุ์ยักษ์ที่ปรากฏตัวและกินมนุษย์จำนวนมาก จนมนุษย์ที่เหลือรอดเพียงน้อยนิดได้ก่อสร้างกำแพงขนาดใหญ่กว่าพวกยักษ์มา คุ้มครองเมืองตัวเอง ซึ่งพวกยักษ์ที่สูงเพียง 3 – 15 เมตร ไม่สามารถผ่านกำแพงที่สูงร่วม 50 เมตรเข้ามาได้ วันหนึ่งหลังจากผ่านมานานร่วมศตวรรษ ก็ปรากฏยักษ์ที่สูงใหญ่กว่ากำแพง มาสร้างสร้างช่องว่างบนกำแพงให้ยักษ์ตนอื่นบุกเข้าเมือง ไล่กินประชากรในเมือง ทำให้ประชาชนส่วนหนึ่งต้องหนีไปกำแพงชั้นใน และเกิดการสูญเสียครั้งใหญ่ ตัวเอกของเรื่อง “เอเลน” ที่ฝันจะได้เป็นทหารในกองทัพ ในวันที่เกิดเหตุร้ายนั้น เขาได้เห็นแม่ตนถูกพวกยักษ์กินต่อหน้าเขา ถึงจะเอาตัวรอดมาได้ แต่ก็ทำให้เขาเริ่มตระหนักถึงความอ่อนแอของมนุษย์ที่พ่ายแพต่อพวกยักษ์ และขอสาบานว่าจะฆ่ายักษ์ทุกตนเพื่อแก้แค้นให้เหล่ามนุษยชาติ หลังจากนั้นเขาและพี่สาวบุญธรรม “มิคาสะ” ได้เข้าร่วมกองทัพและฝึกฝนวิชาการต่อสู้ จนเข้าร่วมกองทัพทและเตรียมรับมือต่อกรกับพวกยักษ์ที่ครองผืนดินที่เคยเป็นของมนุษย์มาก่อน
